What Hydro Jetting Costs in Arizona
Josh Chasteen, Updated , 4 min read
Hydro jetting in the Phoenix area gets quoted after a camera inspection, because the price depends on how long the line is and what's stuck to the inside of it. Angi's national range is $350 to $600 for a typical visit, $475 on average, and up to $2,000 for a long or badly scaled line. We look first.
What drives the price
| What changes | Why it moves the price |
|---|---|
| What's in the pipe | Grease and soap sludge come off fast. Years of scale in cast iron, or roots at every joint, take more passes |
| How long the run is | A kitchen branch line is short. A main line to the street can be 60 to 100 feet |
| Access | A cleanout in the yard is easy. No cleanout means pulling a toilet or going through the roof vent, which adds time |
| Camera before and after | We camera before to confirm the pipe can take it, and after to show you it's clean. Angi prices the inspection at $100 to $500 nationally |
| Whether a cable would do | For a single clog, a cable is cheaper. Angi puts clearing a main line clog at $200 to $600 nationally |
Arizona factors
Hard water is the reason jetting earns its keep here. Chandler averages 16.5 grains per gallon and Mesa runs 12 to 22. That mineral doesn't only scale your water heater. In an older cast iron drain it builds a rough crust on the pipe wall that catches grease and paper, and every clearing after that is a temporary fix until the crust comes off. A cable can't remove it. Jetting can.
Monsoon season, June 15 through September 30 on the National Weather Service calendar, is when marginal lines back up. Heavy rain finds its way into old sewer laterals through cracks and bad joints, and a line that was half blocked with sludge in May is fully blocked in August. If you've had two slow drain calls this year, jet it before the storms, not during.
Where you live also sets what's likely down there. Older Mesa neighborhoods tend toward cast iron, which scales. Newer Gilbert and Chandler homes are mostly PVC, which doesn't scale but does collect grease at low spots. Both respond to jetting, but PVC with a belly holds water and sludge no matter how clean it is, and that's a repair conversation, not a cleaning one.
What Yellowstone charges
Hydro jetting isn't a line in our published price file yet, so it's quoted after we see the pipe. For context from the last 12 months of paid invoices: when a drain call was more than a simple clear, the middle half of customers paid $214 to $496 across 42 jobs. When it turned into a drain repair, $934 to $1,818 across 47 jobs. A standard drain clearing is $88.

Cable, jet, or repair?
Cable it when this is the first clog in a long time and the camera shows a clean pipe with one obstruction. Jet it when the camera shows buildup along the wall, when the same drain has clogged more than once this year, or when a cable went through and the drain slowed again within weeks. Repair it when the camera shows a belly, a crack, an offset joint, or cast iron that's lost its bottom. Jetting a broken pipe cleans it beautifully for about a month.
If a drain keeps coming back, call (480) 404-5226 and we'll camera it and tell you whether jetting is the fix or a waste of your money.

Questions we get on this one.
Straight answers. Anything else, call or text and a person picks up.
What is hydro jetting?
A hose with a special nozzle goes down the drain and sprays water backward at high pressure. The jets scour grease, scale, sludge, and small roots off the pipe wall and flush it all toward the main sewer. A cable punches a hole through a clog. Jetting cleans the whole pipe back to its full diameter.
How much does hydro jetting a sewer line cost?
Angi puts it at $350 to $600 for a typical residential visit, $475 on average, with long or heavily scaled lines running up to $2,000. We quote after the camera inspection, because the length of the run and what's coated on the wall decide how long the jetter needs to work.
Is hydro jetting worth it compared to snaking?
If the same drain clogs every few months, yes. A cable clears the blockage and leaves the buildup that caused it. Jetting removes the buildup. If it's a one time clog from something that went down the disposal, a cable is cheaper and does the job. The camera tells us which one you have.
Can hydro jetting damage pipes?
It can if the pipe is already failing. That's why we camera first. Old cast iron with the bottom rusted out, or a cracked clay or PVC section, shouldn't be jetted at full pressure. On a sound pipe, jetting is safer than a cable because nothing hard is spinning against the wall.
How often should a sewer line be hydro jetted?
Most homes never need it on a schedule. If the camera shows heavy grease or scale, one jetting and a change in what goes down the drain usually holds for years. Restaurants and homes with a long history of backups are the ones that benefit from a yearly cleaning.
