Camera the lateral
We scope the sewer line from the cleanout to the street looking for cracks, failed joints, and gaps large enough for entry.

Smoke test when the camera isn't enough
Non-toxic smoke pushed through the line comes out wherever there's an opening. It's the surest way to confirm a gap that's letting rodents in.

Seal it
Spot repair, trenchless liner, or replacement of the failed section, plus cleanout caps checked and secured. Then pest control finishes the job on the inside.

How do rats get into a house through the plumbing?
They live in municipal sewers. A breach in your home's sewer lateral from age, roots or soil movement gives them a way into your drain system, and from there into the toilet trap and the walls.
Can a rat really come up through the toilet?
Yes. If one has surfaced in a toilet, the lateral has a gap large enough for active entry, and that needs an inspection right away.
Why doesn't pest control fix it?
They can remove the rats that are inside. Without sealing the entry point in the sewer line, new ones come in behind them. It's a plumbing problem first.
What is a sewer smoke test?
We pressurize the line with non-toxic smoke. Anywhere the smoke comes out, there's an opening. It finds breaches a camera can miss.
